Can't wait to see yours, man! I need to put mine up on here lol. Hope to have em done tonight.

Just an update. I started working on them again yesterday and my wires coming off the projector solenoid have issues. The one has plastic sealing the opening and can't makr contact with the prong. But more importantly both solenoids stopped working after about 10 test runs. Not sure what's up with that but I emailed TRS last night when it happened so they should get back to me in a day or two. I also think I mounted the projectors upside down in the housings. (Rookie mistake) lol

Hey.

Two points:

1. Bench test & burn-in. Before even thinking of installing into heads. Makes warranty R&R much easier.

2. Take..... Yer....... Time.

Ahhhh ... the value of a bench power supply and a shield exerciser ... just ask ol' Larry-At ..... lol ....

( note: a 9v battery is not the most reliable way to test the shield solenoid )

Good luck

Call them instead and they'll get with you immediately. I had "problems" getting my harness into the solenoid plug too. They make it super duper tight for some reason, but after JAMMING them in, I haven't had any issues. As far as being upside down, they gave you a pic of how to mount them ;) haha.

rpm0024 12-21-2014 12:57 PM

Haha mine didn't come with any pictures?? I went online and started looking. I assumed the flat part was the bottom and the rounder part of the housing was the top but after seeing the solenoid in operation I realized they're probably upside down. Not the end of the world. I'll just unbolt them and flip them over. Just means my shrouds will have more to cover :P.

Mgd i have been taking my time. Lol just means I messed up slowly :P

Yo, Ryan - that is what TRS's online documentation is for - and I remember linking you to it, IIRC.

Would love to see the finished product. Let us know how hard it was to do this conversion!

Hi.

As has been discussed many, many times, it's not that difficult, given a bit of research, a modicum of skill, patience and the will to do it - and actually follow instructions.

You should indeed consider it, as running a cheap garbage PnP kit (Retro-solutions being one of them, sorry to say) is doing neither you (yer not seeing as well as you think you are - well proven) and yer fellow motorists (blinding oncoming glare) any favors.

Some resources:

http://www.danielsternlighting.com/t...nversions.html

www.hidplanet.com

http://www.theretrofitsource.com/diy...on-guides.html

http://www.theretrofitsource.com/kno...earlenses.html

https://www.youtube.com/results?sear...fitsource&sm=1

.... and much more, including all of the how-to's on this site.

It's up to you to educate yerself. However, if you remain in denial and consider yer choice fer a lighting system to be superior despite overwhelming conclusive evidence to the contrary, you are beyond help.

Yer call. Good luck on yer journey.

:P mgd has his forum knowledge on point.youll see the guides im using once I post the pictures. I printed 3 guides out and put em in a binder (value of working in an office :P)

I'm waiting to hear back from TRS about replacement wires for these defective ones. Then I'll be done. Here's a mock up of them.

Just a teaser thoigh.
