Thanks guys, I'm currently working with a CNC milling company to prototype me some plates to adapt the ballasts openings to an aftermarket D2S ballast.

Very cool! Some E-55s would look excellent in there!

Now if they weren't 1000$ I would definitely pick up a set. Maybe they will drop in price

Wassy, any interest in assembling and selling a complete retrofit "kit" to someone else?

Do all late model for headlamp housing break down this way? Bought a 2013 explorer sport and for some reason a $50k SUV has halogen projectors when the same year model limited has available HIDs. Be easier to tear down and swap projectors if so, I don't wanna use the limited housing because the sports' are blacked out

I plan to! I have the adapting plates all finalized now and just need to get a kit together and sell!

Yes, in theory, the projectors should be the same mounting points inside, but there will be no spot for the ballasts. So my suggestion is to buy a set of limited's then paint them black like yours. I would just upgrade the halogens to a D2S system with the EVOX-r projectors and be done with it! If you need help give me a holler.

So what is needed if you want to do a direct swap let's say a 2012 headlight to the HID 2013. What's needed and how much?

Thumbs up

A direct swap for any 09-12 F-150 requires the 2013 OEM HID's complete with ballast, bulbs and clips and a wiring harness. You can get the HID's on eBay from Alfred (816godschild on eBay) and the wiring harness you can get from Joseph (Tuxedoblack11) on ebay or his website www.projectoretrofits.com. Both guys are a pleasure to work with and will get you exactly what you need. I have the 2013 HID's i'm just waiting to receive my harness from Tuxedo. From what I have seen on the forums the harness and the HID's work flawlessly. On Tuxedo's website he has a detailed video discussing the harness and instillation process. If you have any questions Tuxedo has awesome customer service and has been extremely helpful to me answering my many emails! Tuxedo also does retrofits if your interested in those over the 2013 HID's.

I highly recommend you swap out the factory projector for the EvoxR and switch to a D2S system. The factory projector Ford uses is seriously underwhelming.
