lightning heads/corners

Hey guys before i asked about changin my bulbs for some more light and they worked a bit, but i drive a lot at night and I'm lookin for just some more output. And a few guys on here told me to get some lightning heads and corners. I was just lookin to see if they'll make a difference cause just from lookin at them they look 100% better than the ridged lense factory lamps so I'm sure they'll put out more light. Any input/pics are welcome! Thanks

Well they don't "put out" more light. The amount of lumens are controlled by the bulb. While the factory fluted lens may look like it blocks some light, it really doesnt. Lightning heads are mainly a cosmetic appearance. Unless you found some OEM Visteon Lightning headlights, you probably won't see any difference apart from a reflector pattern.

the dome of the reflector housing is a different shape and spreads light differently

Its a little better. Silverstars are crap, IMO. Check out Philips XtremeVision +100s. They will last twice as long as Silverstars

Okay i'll look into those raptor. Cause I've tried a set of philips crystalvision ultra already and those were pretty decent IMO. And i see on ebay some headlamps with the LED strip on the bottom of the housing (no halos or projectors) and i thought they looked pretty nice. Do you know if the LED's will last? That's the main thing i'd worry about with those...

No they wont. LEDs have crazy long lifetime- if you take care of them. LEDs require a consistant forward voltage to last long. When people wire them up directly to a 12v system, the voltage fluctuates dramatically (idling, driving, or engine off, anywhere from 12.8vDC-14.5vDC) and that is what kills them. Also, the *should* be put on a pulse-width modulator, rather than this current resisting stuff such as you see on chinese aftermarket LED taillights.

I've had those ricey LED headlights and corners. after 3 months a few of them quit working and then the other side started flickering. I removed them in fear of getting pulled over for imitation of a cop. Then I sat down and started learning about real LEDs. Thats what led to my retrofit of my LED tails.

beware of cheep replica L headlights and corners.

real ones are made by Visteon (stamped on bottom of lens) and say SVT on the headlight bulb cap inside the headlight
