Best/Cheapest site for HID's
 

Hello, I have heard of many difffrent sites offering really good deals on hid sets. I want your personel opinions on the best cheapest site to order from . Going to be getting for fogs as well. Ive been told of a company named hid direct.....

Do not buy cheap plug and play HID kits.

So what would you suggest?

He will suggest doing a proper retrofit. But since they are more on the pricey side of the HID market, and most require a good amount of modification to parts and time, I will say this...

I will give you the warning about the glare. You may or may not be flashed by other drivers due to the PNP HIDs, but just know it may happen.

As long as you take the time to properly aim you headlights after installing the HIDs to reduce the glare to oncoming drivers, I don't mind people getting them. But be smart about your bulb color choice. Anything over 6000K is stupid and pointless. You are only making matters worse for yourself and others.

With that being said, check out retrosolutions.com. They are the best place as of now for HIDs.

yes i understand the glare issue. I had hids in my honda way back when and all i did was aim them down. I understand my truck is at a higher level but ill I will aim them down. Am not going to retrofit my lights too much work for me. I checked out ddmtuning that I picked up from another post. Anyone know if I need to get the hid dual in dual out harness.??

OP, depending what MY truck you have, your results may vary. But in case you have a 10th gen truck (1997-2003) like Derek and me, here is a compro between cheap HIDs in stock headlights (when I was young and stupid at 15 years old).

6000K plug-n-play 9007 "bi-xenon" (look at all the glare. Plus you lose light output and your high beams. I've only been flashed 10-15 times in the two years I've had them but as long as I looked cool, who cares right?)

Save everyone the hassle and do it properly :beers:

Alex, I know both you and I would love for everyone to do proper retrofits, but we can force everyone who comes in asking about HIDs to drop $400 on something.

For now, until the HID fad wears off, I say we just kindly suggest the retrofit to them, let them research and decide for themselves what to do. If they decide to pursue PNP, them we should bite our lip and help them out. This is a learning environment after-all. :thumbsup:

wow that lighting with the retrofits is amazing... how hard was it to actually house them into your stock lights though and would I need to retrofit fogs aswell?
Those pictures are actually almost convincing me to attempt but I would have to do some more research and learn what to do. Any pics of the actual headlight?

What model year truck do you have? That way we know the right build thread and pictures to show you.

Regardless, they are well worth the time and money, IMO, and everyone else who has done them will probably say the same. But it's all what you feel like doing. No pressure.

Words cannot express how awesome retros are. My jaw had to be taped shut the first night I drove with them. I wasted a good $30 in gas just driving around :lol:

I own a 2007 screw..Raptor am almost definately convinced on those retros. Am a bit worried bout attempting this myself though. Yours look sick.

If you are willing to pay some extra $$, you can have most retrofit parts sellers do the install with their parts, sometimes at a discounted cost.

I would contact www.theretrofitsource.com or www.sickhids.com to see what they would be able to do for you.

a base retrofit is 350+shipping cost at sickhids.com just checked today and turn around time is 6-10 weeks
