2013 F150 Odor from HVAC - Band-Aid Box smell

I have a 2013 F150 Ecoboost with what appears to be a common problem from what I have seen on other forums. The odor, as someone else put it, smells like a box of Band-aids. Occurs when I turn on the fan for the heater; however, it can either smell with just cold air or hot and then dissipates in about 1 minute or less. My cousin is a Ford mechanic and could not find anything leaking that would cause it. Anybody with the same experience or who has found what the problem is caused by, please post.

Having the same issue with our F150 with EcoBoost when we use the air conditioning. Do I need to take it in for warranty service???

Band-Aid Smell

Several of these vehicles were noted to have a leak in the evaporator system. They replaced my evaporator and this corrected the issue.

Hello,
Just got mine back from the dealer for the same Complaint.
They ordered me a chemical they sprayed on the evaporator core after removing the blower motor.
It Did Not work !!!
It still smells every time I turn the fan on, Can't stand it anymore .
Not really sure why it started smelling all the Sudden ??
I hope someone on this forum gets a fix, and can relay it to one or all of us.

Thanks,
Ken

I have the same issue. The dealership tried to use a chemical to clean it but it only masked it for a couple of weeks and its back fully now.

Evaporator leak again

So, approximately one year since I had the evaporator leak, which was causing the odor in the cabin repaired, the leak has returned. Has ford released an updated part that will correct this issue? This is unacceptable as I will have the truck tied up at the dealership again and there is no guarantee that the problem will not happen again.

Own a 2013 ecoboost f150 with the same problem. Brought it to the dealer. The mechanic sprayed the vents with a deodorizer. The odor came back on 2-3 hours. Anything new that would give a more permanent solution?

Welcome to the forum, RG00924; I'm Crystal, the Ford Service rep here. I'd like to see what I can do to help your truck smell fresh as a daisy. How many miles are on it currently?

Crystal

Hi Crystal, I have a little over 20K miles on it. Bought it in April 2014. The odor started 2-3 weeks ago. Going back to the dealer tomorrow for some other work. Will talk to him again about the odor. All though the last time they did not have any idea what was causing it.
