Totally screwy AC

2000 f150 5.4 bought the truck for a winter project and finally getting to the AC which wasnt working when I bought it
Has adequate refrigerant 12.2 volts power in and out of hi and low switches but only has 1.5 volts at compressor but the real kicker is if you unplug the compressor the motor dies and wont restart plug it back in and the motor fires right up purrs like a kitten.

Uh, that's not the compressor clutch connector you've been playing with, it's the crankshaft position sensor. The engine won't run if it gets disconnected. They're right there next to each other and it's easy to confuse them if you don't know to be careful. You're not the first to post this problem...

The 2000 has a PCM-controlled relay that provides power to the clutch coil. The pressure switches serve as inputs to the PCM to help determine when the clutch should or shouldn't engage.
