My wifes 08' expedition has a leak on the heater core inlet hose at the t-fitting over the plugs in the passenger side. Can I cut the t out and replace it with a regular t and hose clamps from autozone or does it serve a purpose?

 

Sometimes you just can't wait. To anwser my own question and for future knowledge. . . Yes you can, and yes I did. No leaks and everything is running great. Had to replace a cop, guess all the moisture killed it.

 

Also back story on this problem. My wife called and said that the truck was sputtering and the check engine light was flashing, I thought it was bad gas until I drove it, imagine my surprise when I opened the hood to see half the motor soaked in antifreeze. I dried everything out and sprayed electrical cleaner on all the parts. Runs like a champ now.

 

Nice job I always enjoy the challenge of making something work.

For future reference or anyone wondering that's about a $40.00 hose if you don't want to perform the "do it yourself" fix.
