Hotter Than The Devil's Taint!!!!

My a/c went out in my truck and has been out for about 4 months now. Money is tight and that's the reason I haven't gotten it fixed yet, but lord knows I want to. Anyways, it just stopped working one day out of the blue, but it would kick back on every once in a while but now it doesn't do it anymore. I was able to locate what I think is the condenser (right underneath the glove box) which is the thing that is cold and sometimes drips right? Well right next to that is a little round globe which i think is the motor. Well, i took the back end of a screw driver and banged on the globe part and my a/c would come back on. I was able to do that for about 5 times, but now it's not working anymore. Does anyone know what's wrong and how to fix it and about how much if it's something I can't do myself?

I'm thinking it's probably the blower motor that has gone out on me, not sure though. When the air conditioner would kick on randomly, it would blow cold air so I do think it's the thing that makes the cold air. Can someone please help me figure out a way to get this fixed as it's hotter than the devil's taint down here in Florida right now.

Thanks

when your running your a/c does the blower motor work? i.e air coming out the vents? the thing that gets cold in the dash and sometime drips water is your evaporator. the condenser is in front of your radiator. next thing you need to check is with the engine running and in a/c mode does your a/c compressor clutch engage? if it doesn't you are either low on freon or have an electrical issue.

Thanks for the response. I hear the a/c clutch engage under the hood. At least I think the "clicking" noise is the noise you're referring to. There is absolutely no air blowing through my vents, although when I set the a/c to blow air from the outside and pass through my truck, it's cold air.

well if you have no air flow out of the vents it sounds like your blower motor is not working. check your fuses and relays, then make sure you have power and ground going to your blower motor, if so your blower motor has failed. if you don't have power and your fuses / relays are good then you need to check your switch and wiring. if you have manual hvac controls the blower motor switch can be replaced with out replacing the compete control head. also a common failure is the blower motor resister, but you usually at least have high speed blower motor operation.

I really appreciate you helping me out. Sounds like a weekend project to me and that way I don't have to spend a fortune to get it fixed. How do I go about finding which fuses and relays they are and where are they located? I know I've got fuses by the passenger's feet. Is this where the fuses and relays you speak of are located?

Also, my a/c controls are manual.

Do you have max blower speed? Or are all 4 speeds INOP?

yes the fuses and relays are next to the passengers feet, you'll have to look in your owners manual for which fuse does what. most likely there won't be any relays, just a fuse for the blower motor

All 4 speeds don't blow anything whatsoever.

have you checked your fuses, and to see weather you are missing power and ground to your blower motor?
