07 A/C issues
 

From the searching I've done my problem sounds pretty typical.

-A/C clutch engaged
-SUPER hot heat w/ knob at 12o'clock high
-Nothing remotely cold in any position

However, when I drop the lid to my box full of gloves I can see the blend door actuator still turning. I made marks and it looks like it moves roughly more than 90* from lock to lock(lol). I even tried to move it farther to the "cool" side w some pliers w no luck.

So does this sound like your typical blend door actuator? Thanks in advance for all replies

is your suction line cool on the going back to the compressor?

If not you might have leaked out the refrigerant./

Compressor is running normal. I didnt grab the line but I can see the clutch grabbing and not cycling fast. Last night it was mid 40s...w temp at full cold and non recirc the vent air was blowing noticeably colder w the a/c off

if the suction line or the accumulator is not cold then you probably have a freon prob it has nothing to do with the recirc setting.

Yeah ive got no temp. change in the lines....time to put some gauges on it.

If the blend door actuator shaft is moving and you're not getting a change in outlet air temp, the problem is most likely mechanical as in a busted temperature blend door.

You can test this in normal vent/heat settings without ever engaging the A/C. If it doesn't make any difference in these modes, don't spend any time with the gauges until you fix the first problem.

It's likely a bad blend door actuator motor, which is real common on the 07-08s. Check out TSB 08-23-6. It calls for replacement of the blend door motor. It's probably covered under warranty. When mine was going bad, it would blow heated air out of the a/c vents during the summer with the a/c on.

Update: I put some gauges on it. Full on freon and no leaks. However there is no pressure change when the compressor cycles. The clutch has an odd sound when it engages/disengages as well. I dont want to just throw a compressor at it. Anyone have ideas? Orifice tube clogged? Clutch issue?

Today I replaced my compressor assembly w a new 4 Seasons piece from rockauto($290ish). I pulled the old factory compressor apart and found all the splines were wiped off the back of the main shaft. That would explain why the clutch was engaging and nothing was happening. I also replaced the orifice tube for good measure and was happy to find the old one very clean.

Anyway just wanted to update this for future reference. If you are having similar issues a compressor on these trucks is fairly easy. 3 10mm bolts secure the compressor housing and there is one 13mm nut holding each line. All of which is accessible from underneath the truck. :thumbsup:
