compressor cycling
Quick question.
What would make the compressor cycle even when the a/c isn't on?

The compressor works in several A/C modes, not just A/C and Max A/C positions. According to the manual, the compressor operates in all modes except PANEL, FLOOR, and OFF. If it still operates in these three modes, then you definitely have something wrong with your Climate Control system.
