Question Panel/Floor AC????

I've noticed lately that when I turn my vents to Panel/Floor, the AC compressor kicks on. Is this normal? I thought this just distributed outside air to the floor and the panel vents.

The A/C compressor on my '99 Lightning also runs in the Panel/Floor position

I believe it is. I think on mine the only time it doesn't run is in the vent position.

The vehicle above is one of many. Try refreshing. It goes by random but the Expy is exactly like mine.

According to the owner's manual, the compressor runs when the selector switch is in any position except panel OR floor. These are the only 2 positions (other than off) that the compressor does not run.

See also the "turn this AC off" thread about how to "fix" this problem.

I saw the drip water underneath too when I had it on the same setting. I read the manual and it says the AC automatically comes on for all settings (panel/floor, floor defrost etc.) when the temperature outside is above 10-15 deg. celcius for dehumidification purposes.

Cool

Y2kXLTSport is correct. My owner's manual and a book Ford sent me about FAQ's says the only positions besides OFF that do not engage the compressor are FLOOR and PANEL. A quick underhood check will confirm this.
