I have the Pioneer AVH-P4200DVD in my truck. I've only had it for like 2 weeks but so far no issues. It was a very simple install, just a standard wiring harness. You will need a controller for the steering wheel controls. I have the PAC SWI-PS and install was very easy. I think total with the steering wheel control, remote control and unit itself from crispdeals.com was like $450.

I have a Kenwood DNX5120 in my 06 - its got Nav, DVD, CD, satellite, ipod etc. That model is a couple years old now, I think the new ones are model #s 7120 or even 8120s. Highly recommend your checking out Crutchfields. Their tech people are great, they can set you up with exactly what you want, the correct mounting kits, wiring harnesses, and modules for your specific truck, like the one for steering wheel controls, satellite radio, hands-free cell phone and so on. I've had mine for well over a year and love it.

jetech is right, fingerprints can be an issue but I keep a small spray bottle of eyeglass lense cleaner in my console and a packet of tissues - problem solved.

If memory serves the HU was about $500 and various modules were $50-$80 ea. I paid about $700 for my entire set up as I recall.

And with Crutchfield, you can trade up to newer stuff if you want at a later date.

no that is not what you need. i got the steering wheel controller from crisp deals as well but i think amazon.com may have it cheaper.

here is the mount kit you need

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=140332469363

and this is the wiring kit i used, no idea what brand it is but it includes wires coming out of every hole which came in handy when hooking up the steering wheel controls so you dont have to splice into the factory wiring harness

ebay. ebay, ebay.

I got my AVh 3100 dvd+ remote+dash kit and harness for $320 total, the steering wheel harness is around $80 though.

Had it for a year, no problems yet.

I have a JVC KW AVX-810 and love it. Got it off ebay for a steal at $375, SonicElectronix, which is an authorized JVC dealer.

Main reason I went with it is it's got a detachable face, can't steal what isn't there.

They are up to the 830 model now.

^ anyone who knows anything about the 04-08 F-150's knows the trim just pulls away and then its just 4 bolts, and you can rip the whole thing out.

you can buy faceplates ya know? besides most people who steal are stupid and would likely rip out anything they think they can sell, or is worth money.
