Do I need a dash kit?
Do I need a dash kit?
I have a 2006 F-150 SuperCrew 4x4 and am looking to get a head unit that has Bluetooth ability as well as Built in navigation...
I was wondering, if I purchase a double din head unit will I need a dash kit to go along with it?
Also does anyone have any good suggestions on a good head unit at a fair price?
Thanks for all and any help!!

Yes you need a dash kit. I don't know your budget, but you can get a Kenwood DNX-6160 for about a grand and they have a 6.1" screen with built in nav and BT.

Crutchfield may be a little higher priced than others, but they throw in everything you need for the install free of charge (dash kit, harness adapters, etc) and their customer service is second to none. Also if you buy a kenwood, crutchfield is one of the few authorized retailers for kenwood, so if you have an issue with the unit, kenwood will honor the warranty. If you buy from elsewhere and you have an issue, you have to deal with the retailer because kenwood will not honor it.

Which adapter does Crutchfield include? I've been seeing a few comments about the Schosche kits being a little too universal at times.
I used an American Internation kit in my 07 and was thoroughly impressed with the quality and ease of install. Mine was single-DIN with the extra storage pocket.

On the same boat!
I am presently in the process of installing an avic x710bt in my 06 FX4. I only paid $352 from amazon and its going for $700 to $900 where i live. Somemight say theres better hu's out there which ther prob is but it had everything i needed which the nav feature was a must. I also picked up a backup cam for $60 bucks so this whole set up should be slick! Here are a [IMG][/IMG]few pics of the Scosche dash kit which also cam from amizon that i paid $6 for!! I agree so far with everyone that it just doesnt seem to fit right but i havnt put it into the truck yet so we will see.
