Arg.....wire harness's question....

I am I supposed to have two harness's? I just pulled out the stock single disk and there are two plug-in's in the back. A long rectangular one and a smaller rectangular one. I only have a harness for the larger rectangle one: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_1207055...s.html?tp=2977

Do I need another harness for the smaller plug-in?

Thanks!

The large rectangle one has all the power wires, ground, speakers, etc so that's all you need if that's all you are powering.

The extra one is there in case you have the factory sub and want to use an aftermarket deck to power it. If you don't, then you only need the one harness you already bought.

It's just seams odd that the small one was plugged into the back of the factory deck and I don't have a factory sub.....

I used the large one only an installed my Alpine. Everything works good.

Thanks

Most trucks are already prewired for the sub. I think most guys have found it up by the seat brackets under the backs seat.

Anyone happen to have a pic of the wiring that goes to no where? I'm wondering now cause I found 3 sets of RCA's and a remote wire behind the factory deck (the truck was bought used) leading to behind the rear seats.

That would be for an aftermarket amp that someone would have used. The factory amp connection is just a smaller harness than the larger one that you used to power your aftermarket deck.

The brandmotion ipod connector has to connect to the radio. The larger harness hooked up to your radio now is for power in, ground, ignition, speakers, dimmer, and I believe that's really it. The smaller harness (available only on certain F150 models) is for the satellite radio controller and mp3 input jack. If your radio does not have this smaller harness, then your ipod controller has nowhere to connect. You will need to obtain a compatible radio.
