Head Unit Swap
I apologize in advance. I know a million people have asked this question but I just can't find the answer.
I have a 2008 f150 with the factory radio receiver (no CD). I want to add an aux input for the cheapest price. I do a lot of night driving and need to keep the dimming feature of my radio. Because of this, I just want to swap out my unit for a factory CD player and add the pie adapter unit that plugs into the radio. My problem is that my truck only has one plug on the back. Will the factory CD/radio work without the 2nd plug? From http://logjam.d3datasolutions.com/fo...ype=post&id=72 This link, the plug I don't have is a data plug. If I just plug the pie adaptor into the unit and the regular speaker connector, will it work? Thanks |
You should be fine. Im no expert on those PIE adapters, but that second plug is usually just for add ons to the factory headunit such as the audiophile sub or sirius.

on the back of the radios there will be 2 or 3 connections. One is for power and radio. The second is for bus connector (PIE interface). And the thrid is for the sub-woofer.

Well, I bought all the stuff on ebay. will let you all know if it works thanks

Well, I got the radio today. I plugged it in and it seemed to work fine. The only problem is the lights on the buttons don't light up and the dimmer on the screeen doesn't work. I did some research and some results came up reffering to some sort of programming that can be don to the radio to make this work. Any ideas?

Basically it will work. Everthing works fine right now - the lights need to be reprogrammed. Thats on the list of things to do. This is the SN 7L2T-18C815-BE
