Replacing a Head Unit

Hopefully this will be a short post and simple. I have a 2006 F150 FX4 with a factory single CD player headunit. Can I replace my factory single CD payer headunit with a 6 disc mp3 factory head unit that is out of a 2005 F150 with no wiring or install issues?? Just slip in and plug in? Your help is well appreciated. Thanks in advance!

get the HU, get a dash kit and wiring harness
splice the wires from the new HU into the harness, then plug and play

Will I need all of this even though I am going from a 2005 F150 to a 2006 F150?

It should be plug and play. I am relatively new to F-150s but if it is anything like the rangers, if the body style doesn't really change the internals don't usually either. I would bet $100 it will work.

Besides the dealership, any recommendations on where to buy factory head units?

Yes plug and play as mentioned above. I did this in mine, went from an FM/AM stock head unit to the 6 disc stock changer.

Look around on www.Craigslist.org

i have one i was gonna put in my truck (an audiophile head), but instead i went with a jvc aftermarket...i think it came out of an '05, and i have an '04 and it worked... i had it hooked up for a while, but it sounded terrible without the woofer. i actually took it BACK out and put my regular 6 disc changer unit back in until i got the jvc. so i have both an audiophile head and the regular 6 disc head in a box in my garage right now if youre interested.
