undo D3 bypass?

I did the pbrake bypass this spring, and liked it for a while, but now I miss when the nav goes into memory mode and I can see the streets where I am or close by. Can I get away with just putting a switch on the ground wire to turn on if I needed it to or do I have to reverse the bypass all together? I don't travel much and I don't have movies playing while I drive so it is not a loss to me.

Just put a switch on either the pk. brake wire or the mute wire that was moved.

Thanks Low, sorry to see you've been grand theft stereo'd. I finally got around to do this but the P-brake wire did not work. I cut it and just before I put a switch on it I tried it with the nav on with bare wire ends. Took them off and touched them with no luck. I know it works with a DVD just not the nav. Should I even try the mute wire now or just go and reverse the bypass?

Thanks, I appreciate that.

Put the same switch on both the pk. brake and the mute. When I typed that post I didnt think about how the moved mute wire puts it in to a factory test mode. So, do both and everything will be back to normal.

I guess I "missed the forest for the trees" on this one. Both mute and pbrake wire together to a switch which goes to the ground that it used to be on. Still doesn't do what I wanted, but thinking about it, I realized there is no memory on the D3 correct? I have to have the map disc in to see the streets around me while driving at .1 mi and such. As I see from your last post, the moved mute puts it in factory test mode. What does that do for me in idiot terms? Thanks for your help LOW!

Breakthru, last nite, sitting at work I called up the map and the streets were there. I can only conclude that I didn't have the disc in since the bypass and it "forgot" the area but not my pinpoints. It is doing what I want it to do without any switches, just the bypass with the moved mute pin.
