Look for a Alpine iva-w205, looks sweet and can be found for about 800..
Or Pioneer has some nice models as well, not sure about prices and model numbers, but do a search..

The Z3's price is going to be up there. The Z2 is going to be getting even cheaper. The amount of features that the Z3 has over the Z2 is very few, which the OP wouldn't need or want to fork over the money for. The Z2 is an amazing unit, I just installed one in my car. The bypass to allow it to work while driving is a little harder than most units but it's got an amazing layout, great screen quality, great navigation, and amazing features etc.

Even more attractive is to just buy the Z1 refurbed and send the hard drive out for the Z3 update If you feel the need for a bigger drive (10 more gigs of music) then buy the Toshiba repalcement and send it for the Z3 image.
I bought my Z1 refurb off e-bay for $750 shipped, paid another $50 for the 40gig Toshiba and now I have a Z3. BTW, the only difference is the little logo on the top of the head unit bezel says Z1 instead of Z3.

Kenwoods have a horrible layout. My girl has one of them and it's horrible. It looks like it came off of the first computer ever made. The D3 hasn't been discontinued as far as I know and you can still buy it from sonicelectronix.com last time I looked.

I just bought my D3 from Abt.com. I went back to the site a couple of days after my order to get a link for someone, and they were gone. Stock is definately drying up. Sonic sells refurbs on Ebay if your interested in that.
