CD player overheating
CD player overheating
I got a stock 2001 F150, just a simple single CD player, and ive been having lots of problems this summer with it over heating.
i run the max AC and close the windows trying to reduce humidity and heat but after 30 minutes of driving and my need to switch CDs constantly, the disc comes out almost scalding hot and the new CD that i wanna play goes in and makes this clicking noise over and over again until it spits it back out. If I hold the CD infront of the AC until its ice cold for about 10minutes it might play but it is such a hassle.
Is this a common problem with CD players in this trucks? And is there anything i cna do like a place that i could like MacGyver a laptop fan cooling system behind the stock head unit to keep it cool?
thanks for any help.

never mind, figures as luck would have it, Friday the 13th decided to kill my whole stock head unit. went to Circuit City and bought an Eclpise CD3100 and installed it, now its ballin and it aint gonna give me no crap.
This used to happen to my CD6 in my Escape... the CD's would get sooo friggin' hot that they would warp too. Not to mention the CD mechanism would get jammed. Lost 12 CD's in that thing...
Aftermarket is ALOT better if you want to keep your CD's lasting like if you were to use them at home in a conventional CD player in a home audio system.

have a 2015 subaru forrester-- have discovered that the cd player overheats and warps all the cds-from on line research have noted earlier models had this issue-seems it still is happening--has this happened to other newer models?????
