2007 6CD Change "Initializing"

I am the proud new owner of a 2007 Lariat Super Crew 5.4. I am a recent Chevy convert, and I have to say that I love this truck.

One problem...Every time I start the truck the head unit moves through every CD that is loaded. It always indicates the right number of loaded CDs from the beginning of the process, but if I hit the CD button before it has had a chance to make sure they are all there it says "initializing."

It plays CDs fine afer this initialization, but this is annoying EVERY time I start the truck.

Is this normal?

No, that's not normal. Does the clock keep the correct time? If not, the most probable cause is the constant 12VDC line going to the unit is not connected. The pin may not have locked into the harness connector and is not making contact with the head unit, etc...

It's also possible the head unit itself is faulty. It happens now & again with these Delphi units.

The dealer should be able to figure out pretty quick.

Thanks worland. The clock does keep time, so I don't think it is a power connection issue. I have a call in to my dealer on a separate issue, so I'll bring this up when I talk to them.

I just wanted to make sure it wasn't a normal operation.

The only time I see that on my older 6-disc changer was when I disconnected the harness (including constant 12v worland mentioned). That's not normal, so add it to the warranty list.
