Unhappy Headunit Problem! HELP!

Hey,
I just put my old Alpine CDA-9815 in my 97 F150. The previous owner cut off the factory connector on the speaker wire side, so I had to hard wire with a wiring diagram. Anyway, I was tuning it all, and had it pretty loud, and after awhile, I got no sound. It all just stopped. The cd player still turns on and functions, just no sound. I pulled it out, and checked for loose wires, and they seem fine. Does anyone have any ideas? Please help, I love this headunit, and hope it didnt go to crap, cause Alpine slacked this year in sound quality.

I think you popped a fuse probably the always hot line since it's coming on with the switches power. Here's what cruchfield said in the description:

V-Drive hybrid MOSFET60 internal amp — high-current draw requires direct fused connection to your battery.

I just have the one power wire directly from the battery wired to it, like they say to do. You saying maybe the red, ignition wire could be giving it enough juice to turn it on?

I guess if you have it wired to the battery both the headunit's built in amp may have given up the ghost. Do the RCA plugs work?

The RCA's work(ed). The sub was hitting without speakers, but now there is nothing. Does it sound right that I could have blown a speaker, and the internal amp shut down?

Hey all,
Over my lunch break, I pulled it out and rechecked the wiring and everything for loose wires. Also checked voltage and I have the correct voltage. One thing I noticed though, is that there is a remote wire in the factory wiring (blue/white) that was loose. I cut and stripped the wires again on it, and touched them together, and I have sound! Does this mean I have the factory amp under the dash, and if so, can I bypass it? Thanks for the replies!

Does anyone have anymore suggestions before I take it in and spend money? I took the deck out again, and noticed that if I turn it on, I get sound for a little bit, then I hear a pop in my right front speaker, then no sound. BUT, if I unplug the harness from the deck, and plug it back in, turn it on, it will work and pop. Any more ideas?? PLease

Ok back up a bit, you have me confused. What white blue wire? The head unit's remote wire don't connect to the factory harness. It connects to your amps.

This is correct. The blue/white wire is for the amps. It sounds like you are shorting something out. That deck should be an easy plug and play. I have an alpine cde-9843. Although it is an older model it was an easy plug and play. Your internal amp may be taking a crap on you.

On my kenwood headunit when I popped the fuse for main power the switched power still kept the unit display on but it wouldn't work beyond showing a display. It would also do the same with the blue remote wire getting shorted. It would turn on and off but wouldn't have any outputs till I removed all power for a few minutes.

One question still are you using aftermarket amps and speakers? I'm not sure about the factory installed audiophile system or even if you have that.

Well, I took the Cd player in for a professional install, and it worked for awhile, then I had no sound. My cd player completely fried. Its getting sent back to Alpine to be rebuilt. Only $97 though...
