How to install an equalizer?

Hey all,
I have been contemplating for awhile on if I want to add an equalizer to my system in my truck. I dont have much for a system...2 6x8 planet audios, 2 6x8 pioneers, 1 12" Kicker Comp VR. The speakers arent amped. The head unit is what came with the truck, which is a midrange Pioneer with MP3. Anyway, how hard is it to install/hook up an equalizer to try and have some more control, without buying a new deck? PLEASE HELP!

Unless you are talking about one of the cheap EQ/Boosters, then it can not be done without amps. High quality EQ's are preamps. Meaning that your head unit goes in to the eq and the eq in to your amps. If you do not have amps, then the eq will not work for you. And the EQ/Boosters, if they are still around, are a waste. I would try adding amps before I even thought about using any EQ's.
