3/4 drop
3/4 drop
I finally bought a 3/4 drop kit. Bought it from someone and don't even know what brand it is. It has shackels, leaf springs, hangers, coils, and 4 shocks. A shop here quoted me at least $500, up to $700 to install. Is this right? Will it require a c-notch? And will the tires fit in the wheel well? Kinda late to ask these questions now, I know but, I'm impulsive like that. Please help if you can. Thanks.

Outnumbered,
I really want to know about your "lesson learned". How do I locate? I just took delivery of a 02 dark shadow gray Harley that needs to be lowered now! I am thinking of the belltech 3/4 (2/3 for HD) but want to be sure there are no cleance problems in the front. Also, what did you do about shocks? SoCal Speed Shop uses rear shock extenders if you retain the original shocks. I kinda hate to replace perfectly good shocks with less that 500 miles on them. Thanks for the help.

I have the belltech 2/4 kit which was shackles, hangers, coils and shocks all the way around. A local privatly owned goodyear shop did the work for me in one day. I dropped it off at 9 am and got it back at 4 pm. I was working so i didnt mind the wait and the place that did the work is right across the street anyway. The cost for the install was $416 with tax included. If you bought a used set you may have problems finding someone to install it because of the liability involved in installing 2nd hand parts. Maybe you could clean them up real nice before you go there. They asked me right off the bat at 3 of the 4 places i asked if the parts were new or not. Hope this helps ya
S-Cal Drop
I haven't been around lately...too busy playing with the toys.
Bad-Gene, you'll recall from previous posts of yore that I installed the So-Cal kit. It came with Eibach front coils, 4 shocks, helper springs for rear and drop shackles. Did all the work myself in the garage. I took an entire Saturday. The only tough part was removing the bolts on the rear bed to install the new shackles. The stance is awesome, the handling improved tremendously, and no more pickup truck chicken-neck ride.
It sounds as though your kit is similiar. You can do it at the base auto crafts shop--I'm sure the guys running the place would be glad to help. Nothing tricky except removing those grade 98 bolts holding the back end together. After removing the heads you'll need a torch to heat up the area before they'll come out of their holes. A lot of work if you have to drill-em out.

Thanks for the advice Moto. However, I already paid $500 to have it installed. I don't mind though. I prefer to let the experts handle anything dealing with mechanics as I suck at it! I am very happy with the results though. After a few more mods, I'll update my photo album at yahoo.
