Talking Ate my first camaro for lunch!

Hi Guys,

I've driven my new HD for a week now (400 miles) and did not appreciate the quickness of this huge monster until today. After pulling out of a local In-N-Out burger stand I found my self waiting for a light next to a 98-99 camaro with two college aged guys in it.

The passenger yells out to me "Hey, I hear those things are turbo charged" I of course reply back and I say "It's supercharged" His buddy the driver points to me and then points to the road and takes off.

He pulls off with me not far behind. Within four to five car lengths I pull up and begin to pass. At that point I peg the gas and cruise by him as if he was pushing a wheel barrel up hill. We get to the next light, I look over and their both grinning and shaking their heads with disbelief that this great mass could move so swiftly. Damn! I love this truck.

No offense..but if you caught him and passed him easily from a medium roll..it was a V6

Not knocking the new truck...but with a best estimated 1/4 mile time of mid 14s stock....the 98/99 LS1 camaros have that covered easily by a full second in the 1/4.

Not sure if it was a V6 or SS. I did not pay attention to the markings.

If you pulled on him within 4-5 car lengths, it had to have been a V6. The SS would have been long gone. Those SS Camaros have the Vette LS1 engine (detuned), and if lauched right, could make more than a decent kill. But that's still a good race. Chev's are going to start learning the hard way, before they mess with a Ford truck.

I took on an SS in my Lightning. That was a tight race. By the time we cut the race off, I only had about a foot and a half ahead of him. The nose of the car was beside my side view mirrors practically the whole race. They have a 5sec flat 0-60 if driven right. I think that guy I raced needed some lessons.

Yup was a V6 or a z28 who couldnt drive for *****. BTW the the SS and WS6's have the SAME engine as the vette ,it is not detuned ,the only reason the vettes are "rated" higher is for marketing plan from GM. The LS1 camaros and T/A generally dyno 10rwhp HIGHER than vettes due to better gearing.

My bad ,I meant to say they dyno higher(atleast the new ones) because of the 6.0l truck cam and the ls1 intake manifold. From what I have heard even the new vettes dont have the ls6 manifold. Also I meant to say the SS/WS6 may be a little quicker in launches due to better gearing ,but the vette is just as quick in the 1/4 due to the aerodynamics of that sucka.
