How fast is this new Harley going to be?
Well my dad made up his mind and we will once again go back to the Ford dealer (will be my dads 14th ford) and he is trading his 01 harley for the 02. The new ones are rated at 340hp and 425tq. How fast is it going to be? 0-60 ,1/4? I know it wont compete with my WS6 w/bolt ons(in the shop getting stall converter ,long tube headers ,Hot cam ,pulleys and gear ?380rwhp?)Anything else new to it? heard it has dual muffler? He wants me to put an intake on it and chip , and ofcourse clears.
Lightning boys may have a better idea since it's more or less a detuned L engine. The good news is detuning apparently consists of nothing more than a smaller lower pulley and computer code. Lower pulley is easy to swap out (from what L boys say) and less risky than swapping out the upper pulley (the one that's attached to the supercharger) and since your dad wants the chip anyway, the computer code probably won't be an issue. You may need to wait a while for the chip burners to come up with an optimized program for the Harley though.
Supercrew Harley weighs more than regular cab L, and engine makes a bit less, and you need to take into consideration the gear ratio and the wheel size, and tires... I don't know if the new Harley will come with stickier rubbers...
My entirely unprofessional guess is that the '02 Harley will be substantially slower out of the hole than a L, and maybe half a second or more slower on quarter than a stock L. 0-60 mph may be somewhere in 6.5 range.
Hey, anyone wanna start a poll?
Losers chip in to buy the winner a new '02 Harley F150.

I'm thinking about getting one also. Today I was doing some research and noticed the towing capacity listed as 4500 pounds. Is that a misprint??? Also, I got approved to get the X plan, so I'll get one if that towing thing works out. I pull a boat so any info will be helpful!!!!!
Good luck on X Plan. From what I hear a lot of dealerships aren't accepting X or A Plans on Harleys...
BTW, there's apparently a way to get unlimited number of X Plan. I looked over the form and it doesn't have any limitations and you can get the pin # over e-mail...

How Fast??
How fast will the '02 HDF-150 be? Well, let's look at some other vehicles for comparison.
The ’01 F-150 Super Crew RWD was tested by Motor Trend and with a 5100 pound curb weight, the performance times were 0-60: 8.1 sec and quarter mile: 16.0 sec / 84 mph.
How about the '99 F-150 Lightning? Car & Driver quotes a curb weight of 4700 pounds and performance times of 0-60: 5.8 sec; quarter mile: 14.4 sec / 97 mph.
So, playing around with the ET / MPH calculator in http://www.prestage.com/carmath/ we can estimate what the ’02 HDF-150 performance numbers will be. Ratioing up and down from the two trucks mentioned above provides a range of numbers. Using some judgment and guessing, I’d expect the following performance: 0-60: 6.8 sec and quarter mile: 15.0 sec / 92 mph.
Of course individual trucks will vary and performance numbers will also be affected by both weather and track conditions. However, I’d say this would be in the ballpark. We’ll find out in a couple of months what the real numbers are.
