Minor Dilema?

Hey all, my dilema is this. A local lot has had a used 2001 HD for about a month now and I have driven it several times and am thinking of trying to get this friday for a 25th b-day present to myself, but should I wait and get an 02 HD instead? I have heard all of the problems that the L's have with the intercoolers and stuff and since the 02 HD has the same engine I am hesitant to go with the 02. Any thoughts from you fine folks would be great. By the way the 01 has 5100 miles on it, no power moonroof or sliding rear window, the guy who had it knocked off the fog lights(or took them off) and the dealership doesn't have any intention of replacing them, and it doesn't have the bed extender(not really a necessity but would be nice). They are asking 31K for it which is way to much but I am not really sure what I should ask for the truck, any thoughts on this would also be greatly appreciated.

Hell nah!

Duuuuuuude, there's no way you should pay 31k for that vehicle. In my opinion, you should definately get the 02. The intercooler issue isn't really that big a deal. Ford replaces them no problem if they are faulty. To have the best looking truck on the planet, combined with that power, all I can say is... hot damn! Good luck!

I purchased my 2000 used with 4k miles and paid only $23k. Offer the dealer the same and if he doesn't bite tell him you will be going elsewhere to buy an '02 with an X-plan. Or look around and find a leftover 01 and offer invoice price just to get the thing off the lot.

Thanks for all oh your opinions. There was no way is was going to pay the 31K for the 01 but I have pretty well decided on the 02 any how. Hey baddgene, how long have you been in the Army? My dad was in for 22 or so years and it is amazing how most Army or even ex-Army think alike because I talked with my dad and he pretty well said the same thing. Thanks again fo your input and talk to you all later.

My dad was in the Army Air Force in WWII (4 years) as the Nose Gunner in a B-24. As the leed plane in most missions...he got more than a few kills (Probably 100x more than your old man in his 22 years). That's real combat. Nowadays it's just bogus shi* like over in Afghanistan. But hell with it...I think I'll join the marines after college.

yea, i am kinda curious also what they are going to do in 03 since that will be the 100th anniversary. Hey ricekicker great choice of waiting till after college to go to the Corps. I did it the *** backwards way. Enlisted and then had them pay for college, i am out now, did 12 years Active Duty and got out and joined the reserves.
