What was the deciding factor........

when you purchased your Harley Davidson F-150? My wife and are are looking at the 2002 HD, 2002 Lightning and 2002 King Ranch and making a list of pros and cons.

It all came down to price, and when I bought my KR, it was the only one I could get at x-plan price. However, now I look back on it and I'm glad I went with the KR over the HD, because at least in my area, I am the only KR around. I have seen at least 10 HD's though, so mine is rarer here.

I chose the HD S/C for the following reasons:

Pros
1. I have 2 small children
2. It's gonna be faster after I add the pulley.
3. It has 20 in. chrome wheels and a supercharger.
4. Higher resale value, this was a big one.
5. Custom Look
6. Luxury options(Heated Seats, MoonRoof, Climate Control, AutoLamps, etc...
7. Very large inside with Utility of a bed to boot.
8. My wife liked it.

Cons
1. Harley-Davidson Badging
2. Limited choice of colors (Black or Grey)
3. Bad gas mileage(although no worse than an Exppy)
4. Replacing tires those 20s are pricey
5. Supercharger (harder on the drivetrain)
6. Limited towing capacity (4500lbs)

My reason for the 00 HD is just the fact it is a combination of the two names I have used all my life. Ford & Harley. I have never had a stock Harley and this truck is far from being stock from suspension, motor, exhaust & audio so far. Have just ordered a Cervinis Ram Air Hood & Expy Console and Euro Carbon Fiber Tail Lights to put myself further in the hole, but I love my truck.

three words: cool a$$ rims!
I would never spend $4+ g's on rims so I give these the big thumbs up! Although, if they don't make the 2003 or later HD's in extended cab trim I will have to trade for a KR. I don't much care or have the need for the Screw.

Don't take your wife to Sturgis....

I did.....she saw that SCrew on display and had to have it...I took her over for the test rides and put on her on a FatBoy and a WideGlide....but no, she wanted the SCrew.

Got home and down to the Ford dealer, put the cash down, even tho they had no info on the truck.

Me? After 3 nitros, I'm fine.

Hammerton, i agree with you pros list, but i am just wondering why you put some of the things on the con list, some of em seem pros to me. i'm just curious.

Cons
1. Harley-Davidson Badging (WHAT!!! why is this a con?)
2. Limited choice of colors (Black or Grey) (who'd want it in any other color?)
3. Bad gas mileage(although no worse than an Exppy) true true
4. Replacing tires those 20s are pricey (not that bad, only 124 a tire
5. Supercharger (harder on the drivetrain) true
6. Limited towing capacity (4500lbs) true, but if ya really need to tow something, why not use a powerstroke diesel? i'm just wondering why some of these are on here,

as far as the cons go

1. I'm not a Harley fan, I know I'm out in the cold on this one.
2. I like the 20' rims and I'm willing to pay extra for the tires as a matter of fact they could be 22's and I'd even be happier.
3. I have a 9500lb boat and I went to the dealer to buy the 7.3 TD Exursion Ultimate but I didn't like the ride quality but I did like the ride quality of the F150 so I ask for the top of the line and HD is what I got.

I was just being picky, for those that aren't getting one I didn't want to rub it in. I personally think it is the perfect truck for me.
