Am I being silly??

Ok so I've bought a Police Road king in Daytona. I need to go pick it up. I dont want to take my HD F-150 cause of mileage and I've already taken 3 road trips in it this year and I would like to keep the anuual mileage down around 12k a year or less.

So I'm thinking about getting a rental F-150 for 2 days.

Plus I have the long awaited "cover" on the back. I've taken it off once already and found it to be somewhat of a pain to get back on and algined correctly.

Why do I care about this truck so much? My last truck I had 12K miles on it by the time I had it 6 mos.

Cool How about ONE WAY?

Is the Harley rideable? If so, you could fly down there and ride the Road King back, or you could rent the truck, drop it off there and ride the scoot back.

Depending on air fare, that's how I'd do it. Fly or drive one way and have the fun and experience of riding the bike back home...

Biketoberfest starts October 18 through the 21. Drive down then, enjoy the races etc. then haul it back.

I know what you mean, sometimes if I take a long trip and I want to make it fast and I know I'm going to be flogging the vehicle, I'll rent one and beat the hell out of it. Usually they are cheap miles.

Biketoberfest is really a pretty good time down here, much better than the spring fiasco I think. I go every year, it's only 30 minutes away.

If I fly down, I'll need a temp tag for the bike which means I have to pay tax. Then I'll get taxed again by my state when I register.

I dont have the time to hang out and enjoy the fest due to this pesky thing called a job.

Yes it will be a "flogging operation" for whatever truck I use. I think I'm going to go with the rental just for that reason. Drive down one day and return the next.

air fares are pretty cheap right now, may be cheaper and quicker to fly down and ride it, or truck it back. Also there are transport companies that arent that expensive. I shipped a mustang from kansas city to Maryland for $500 a couple years ago. Plus they are bonded and insured. Might be another option
