New sound system

WEll, I took the plunge and bought a new system today. Nothing too extreme but, it should be a whole helluva lot better. Didn't really want to mess with stock, but I gots to have my BASS! Installing this weekend.

BTW, anyone know how to get the stock changer from the center console? I believe the new one will fit in it's place. True? Thanks.

I hope it does. I plan on upgrading the stereo next year and was planning on placing the new changer in the console. My advice would be to measure the width of the stock disc changer. If the new one is wider you will probably have to modify the disc hoder If you want to be on the safe side, purchase one of the small disc changers. I think Sony has one that is designed to fit in the golve box.

Visteon makes a new plug compatible MP3 player for our console mounted CD changers. Bolts in right in place. Can hold thousands of MP3's. Pretty trick looking unit. I actually thought of installing one in parallel with my CD changer and switching back and forth between the 2. This doesn't address the bass issue though. You just adding an amp and speakers or are you putting in a whole new HU?

I believe the MP3 player is an entire console so it must be around 500 bucks at the least. Not too sure though

I put a Kenwood MP3 capable Head Unit in my Truck in the Spring. Also change the stock speakers to Rockford Fosgate’s (See my Sig). I still have the change in the Truck, but I don’t need it anymore. One CD full of MP3 tunes holds more then the changer’s 6 CD’s. The sound is great. Audio purists would probably disagree.

CaughtYaLukin, Don't speculate, deal with the facts. It is not the HU. It is a plug in module that can go in place of a changer. I've talked to Visteon about this. It will be available this fall. Here's the link for more info on those that are interested. http://www.visteon.com/technology/au...mach_spec.html

This would be great as I have a home MP3 Juke with 4000 songs all nicely organized now. I could just copy that over and go.

For those of you who don't know, Visteon is the supplier of many of Fords systems including it's audio systems. This unit can also work with some Kenwood HU's. Got to this home site which is the same unit to see what else it will support. http://www.phatnoise.com/
