Supercharging
Hi Guys....
As many of you know, im more of a cruising kind of guy rather than a street racer with my truck. However, I want some more 'umph' out of the truck off the line. I'm going to use this supercharger to a limited extent (mostly for just getting on to the expressway).
I was wondering if anyone knew of a cheap supercharger that will give me more horses at lower RPMs and not sacrifice mileage?
Thanks

Another question :
Does supercharging increase the amount you have to pay for insurance? I have a friend who has a '01 Mustang GT and he says he was going to get a Vortech supercharger but said that the insurance would skyrocket if he did. Is he a liar or is it true?

CaughtYaLukin,
I would not even allow my insurance company know I had the SuperCharger unless you want it covered in case the vehicle gets stolen.
As for low end "umph" with a supercharger, you will want a roots type charger. They produce horsey power at all ranges of the powerband. A Centrifugal charger has to be wound up to about 3000 rpm before it "comes alive". It's a personal preference as to where you want the power produced. I would look into the charger they put on the lightning. It produces an engine with 380 horses.
