HELP! My tonneau's stuck shut!
Somebody PLEASE HELP ME! I've had my harley tonneau about 3 weeks now and hadn't had any trouble with it. But tonight, i went to pick my mountain bike up from my buddy's house, opened the tonneau, put the bike in, closed it, went home, and ITS STUCK SHUT!, the right side latch wouldn't release :(. The left side would release right away, but nomatter what i did, the right side wouldn't budge. I could even reach in the bed on the left side and i pulled on the T bar release on the underside of the tonneau, but that didn't work either. I've tried everything i could possibly think of to get it open, i must have tried 50 times, but nothing. PLEASE, if anybody has any ideas, post em or email me, joshv_85@yahoo.com , because if i cant get it by tomorrow afternoon, I'm gonna have to take it to the dreaded leer dealer because i need to get my bike out of the bed. And i'd rather get it open my self, because when the dealer installed the tonneau, they got grease everywhere in the bed on the tailgate and on the tonneau and they scratched up my bed and tailgate a little :( . so please help if you can. i think i remember reading about this happening to another guy in an earlier post.

Yup
Hey,
The first thing to do is not to panic. The same thing happened to my truck on the way to Sturgis. All you have to do is finaggle around w/ a coat hanger. (look on the side you have open to see how the latches work and relase them. Once you get it open, loosen the tensioning set srew on the stuck side. No Mo Problems. Mike |
With the key turned all the way open...give the offending side a nice big wack with your hand.
I have to do this to get the drivers side to unlatch. |
