Hello there,
I'm new to here from Japan, and am not an owner of the HD but owner of GMC Typhoon here in Japan.

I'm posting here because friend of mine just imported 100th HD form US, but during the shipping, VIN plate was removed by someone and some more misc parts were also missing when the truck was arrived at sea port in Japan.

He is now trying to buy them back by aftermarket and found almost all of missing misc parts but the VIN plate

So, if some of you guys know the souces which can republish the VIN plate for him, please let me know.

I dunno dude.. Claim it on insurance or make the shipping company claim it and let the ins company figure out where they can get one.

 

Thanx clonetek for your suggestion, but actually a shop helped him to import the truck and he bought it from there as it is, so the claim wasn't accepted...

Anyway thanks, and I'm still looking for another suggestion.

You might want to check if the truck had the VIN laser cut into the window. I dunno if Ford does that but Toyota and a bunch of other manufacturers do it. It would probably be in the rear window near the bottom corners. Also I think they print the VIN on the engine block. Im not positive but you might want to check both places.

 

hideakimura, are you talking about the plaque on the console, or the actual VIN plate that was on the dash?

I think he was talking about the plaque on the console..

 

Yeah, as you can see the pic below, I'm talking about the one which should be attached on the console.

FORD cannot help you with the plaque but Mr. Pinter might. If he can't, then just have a reproduction/copy done with the information he wants. Good luck

Hi kromdom, I called Mr.Pinter just before but he said that he did not do anything for 2003 trucks
therefore unfortunately he can not help for the plate reproduction or copy
and I was also adviced that ask this to the original Ford dealer...

Sorry Mr. Pinter could not help you. This is what I have done so far to track the build # for my '01:
1. Get an OASIS or CARFAX report: will show the number of previous owners

2. try to contact the local DMV where the first owner lived and request for a copy of registration/titles

I found my '01 was first sold in Houston, TX last 19JUL2001. I then submitted a request to Houston DMV and was mailed a complete ownership history of the truck

I then contacted the first owner and explained how I got his info. And that I need the build # of my truck. He said he will look for the plaque and to call him back this Saturday afternoon. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Since Mr.Pinter could not republish/make a replica of 100th VIN plate for my friend, I had been trying to find out the first sold dealer of his truck, but could not find so far...

I've only gotten the info from my friend below, so if some of you can read the dealer from this info that where I should contact to, could you pls help us out???
