Painted my calipers
It was a beautiful 62° day today so I decided to paint my front calipers. Used Plasti-Kote FORD Red #206 in a rattle can. The first one was a learning experience. Paint didn't want to stick well after just cleaning with rubbing alcohol. Had best results when cleaned first with carb/T.B. cleaner and roughing the factory caliper paint with 220 grit sandpaper. It took about three coats to make me happy with the results.

Looks great, like the color
it should hold up just fine. i did mine back in june and they still look like new
although i didn't use spray paint. waaaay to easy to get overspray on the truck,, and too much work masking it all off. i used a brush and you can't tell if i sprayed them or brushed it cuz the calipers have a rough texture anyway
i did them twice in 2 weeks. once i used silver engine paint cuz i wanted silver and it was the only high heat stuff i could find, but it turned out too flat and looked gray. it was spray paint, so i sprayed it in the cap and painted it on. went just fine
redid them 2 weeks later with regular old gloss silver rustoleum from the can, no special high heat or anything, and they still look like new 5K miles later,, and i have that glossy look i was after. plus more color options than engine paint.
i'm going to redo them this spring in red though just for a change. i'll probably do just the brackets in red and leave the rest silver.
2 more tips...while you're at it, sand down the rust and paint that nasty center hub. and sand down the inside of the exhaust if you have any rust or discoloration, clean it with alchol, and paint it with gloss silver rustoleum. holds up perfectly fine. did it when i did my calipers, and what little soot i get in them just washes out, so they still look brand new

D'oh, I knew I should have got that center hub and rotor edge while the wheels were off. It'd look terrible in red, but I just remenbered I do have a can of black rustolem on the shelf.
Need something to do on New Year's Day anyway. I'm going to let the new appearance 'grow' on me for a few days and decide if I should do the rears to match (most likely will).

ah ya definately gotta do the rears to match!
anyway, i've got a quart can of semigloss black rustoleum in the basement waiting for spring to get here. the axle is starting to pit a little, so this spring the truck's going on jackstands to be detailed completely underneath, and then i'm going crazy with the paint
axle, cover, shock tubes, anything and everything that already came black but is starting to pit. of course i'm gonna sand it all smooth 1st.
here's a pic of my calipers. like i said this was the 1st stuff i used and it looked gray in person, and with the camera it almost looks white. don't have any pics since i've repainted them with gloss silver rustoleum. thats a suprise. LoL

i did the rotor edge also, the little bit that got on the disc wore off in like 2 seconds backing out the drive, but i'm probably gonna redo the edge black so it doesn't stand out so much
and the rear
