I say 6# lower should be safe on the HD's.

Cobra Did you BOOM you truck ? Details we need details...

I think if you drive these trucks like a sports car then it will "boom" with 13+lbs of boost. However if you drive like in in my case with 15+lbs of boost and drive it like a 5500lbs truck then your fine. Don't get me wrong now I will race you at the drop of a hat but NOT a civic or a stock mustang or stock camaro. I think the best way to put it is, rag on it and it will not last!!!!

hey cobra, did you ever add that 2lb lightning upper pulley just to see what it would do? I thought i remember you saying something about that at Etown.

i run a 2lb lightning upper and a 5lb lower.no problems yet.(knock on wood)!!!!!my truck 420hp and 523tq at the tires but i also
had willie from diablo tuning it on the dyno my air/fuel was at 11.4 .i does detonate in temps under 50 degrees.so i don't beat on it.just because a motor detonates does not mean it will burn a piston.what happens is the detonation is like an explosion in the combustion chamber and it tries to push the crank through the main caps thus putting a lot of undo stress on the very very very weak 5.4 rods and they snap like a toothpick!!!!!!!!!!!i've seen plenty of pre 03 corba's break rods with no piston burning,it can also can cause smatched ring lads on the piston!i hope this helps.

Having my 00 HD engine rebuilt. Manley Rods & Pistons, SS Valves, Port & Polish, etc. See you are rebuilding the lower end also and just wondering what you are doing about a cam. Would appreciate an email at meto@pacbell.net

Sure makes sense! I've been told before, boost doesn't break rods, a bad tune does....maybe, maybe not.
