Oops! Got stuck in my wife's rose garden!

When I woke up this morning, the neighborhood was covered by about 6" of heavy wet snow. I was worried about one big limb on a birch tree pulling down my service wire so my plan was to cut it off using one of those long handled pruning things.

Problem was, I couldn't quite reach it from the ground so my brilliant idea was to back the F150 up into the front yard so I could stand on the tailgate.

Seemed like a good idea at the time. But once I had successfully removed the limb, I was fully stuck ( in 4x4!). In the process of getting unstuck, which involved lots of RPM's and bits of grass and dirt flying everywhere, I drove right through my wife's prized rose garden.

Question is: how sturdy are these rose plants? Can they withstand the force of a BFG Radial A/T 265-70-17 tire spinning at high RPM's and tearing all the bark & branches off them? Any chance she will buy the excuse that I was just doing some light pruning?

Oh well, spring is just around the corner. She can get out there with her gardening outfit on & fix the rose garden ( I hope ). I'll have to fill in the tire ruts in the lawn!
:D

Start singing after me,

"I never promised you a rose garden, . . . ."

Then begin sucking up

"So what kind of new rose plants would you like? Price is no option."

ouch, all I have to say is start sucking up. Good luck and....how about that will (am I in it):D

You're worried about the roses? I'd be worried about the wife! Ever thought about wearing bullet proof underwear to bed?

Oh oh!

I'd get thyself to a garden center real quick & see if they have any rosebushes in stock & buy them - all! Or, go to a florist & buy her roses & tell her that. come the right season, you'll buy her whatever she wants for the garden!
Seriously - call a garden center - maybe if you stake up the plants & cover them with a burlap sack or something they MIGHT make it. I know that when coevring plants there are specific methods to follow so you'd be wise to check first. I have a great gardening site - www.rebeccasclippings.com - I think you can email a question & get help. I hope they can be saved - keep us posted & don't forget Valentine's Day is coming up soon!

ONe time at work i was driving through the fields checking gates in the ranch truck (i work on a ranch), and it's only a 2wd and i thought i'd save some time by driving through the river instead of going all the way around back through the fields to get to the road. I thought it would work because we did it earlier in my bosses truck (but he was 4wd). So, i hit the clutch and drop it into the creeper gear and ease up to the edge of the bank and let out the clutch and start to ease across. Well, about halfway through i come across some big rocks and im stuck. Oh *****. So i put it into 1st and hit it, pop the clutch, etc. Nothings working, im just spinning all over the place. I try to rock it but that doesn't work either. And by this time i've been spinning the tires so much that i'm starting to get parallel to the river, while i'm in the river, lol. So, in a desperate last attempt, i cut the wheel all the way, put in in reverse and hit it. I got it out doing that, but it took a whole lot of flooring :D Oh well, that was a better solution than getting out in the middle of the river and walking back to the lodge to tell my boss to get his truck so he can tow his other one out  And then i took the long way back :p

Ever heard of a Ladder?

goneloco Jan 28, 2002 12:06 AM

That's pretty funny stuff! That sounds like something I'd do. I once backed into my Parent's front yard in order to hang christmas lights. The ladder wasn't tall enough, so I got the wise idea to put the ladder in the bed of my truck! Dont try that at home, kids! I survived that experiment (it wasn't easy, but I sure got those lights to the top of the tree!) but I caught all kinds of flack for putting ruts in the yard! I can only image the penance for taking out a prized rose garden! I sure wouldn't want to trade places with you! How'd she take the news?

Better start saving up that mod money for Rose money, as I am sure that you are going to need it.....Could you possibly blame it on some neighborhood kid for going through the flowers?:D

MASHIE -

Does this mean we won't be able to look to you for the FLOWER COUNT next month???

i feel for you! mine gets pissed off when my rottweiler hops the fence into her garden and cant jump out because she can;t enough of a run going. she yells all the time. i just keep telling her that its the dog that saves her garden from the possums and the squirels.

just tell her ***** happens and that you'll help her fix it and that stuff. mean while she and all of us know she'll wind up doing it herself. thats how it works in my house. i can cut lawn but when it comes to the garden i can't do a thing. so she does it cause she gets fed up with me doing it wrong and she knows she end up fixing it anyway!

i just stick to doing the garage and driveway and laundry sometimes.
:)

Curt73 - if you shrink her favorite blouse, or maybe turn something in the laundry pink (red fades good into white), you won't have to do laundry anymore either!!!

P.S. - Break a few glasses or plates and that will get you out of washing the dishes!
