Tire chains for half a kilometre?

I live a half. Klike from a snow covered bush road. The pavement between my drive and there is iced with bare spots. Can I chain my rear tires in my drive and head up or do I wait till I’m at the bush road. Under a quarter klik of pavement. Thanks guys, and girls.

Chains can be safely driven on pavement, just keep it under 30 kph.
