I was at a mecum auction about 2 years ago and a very similar red/back blazer was there, i had desided i would pay up to $15k and it went for $18k. the 80's trucks are climbing.

to me the best one would be an 96 bronco. last year, 5.8 had a maf sensor so you get the older body style with a little more modern engine. a stock low mile would be cool or restore a higher millege one and add a 408 stroker with good heads, cam, intake, a little better suspension, tire and rims :thumber:

That must be a rare color combo. I don't recall seeing one configured like that before

I'll cut you some slack on that since you were like one years old when it rolled off the line.

the dark blue, light blue and two tones were very popular in the 80's

IMO the throttle body fi was a great product. so simple and so much better then the carbarators it replaced. not the fastest, but very simple solution.

i had a 350 chevy tbi in a 90 truck and it knocked down better mpg that any truck i have has since.

I've seen plenty of tri color paint schemes, just never dark grey with lighter blue

I thought the same thing when I first saw the listing -- then this weekend I passed by a Silverado pickup from that era with the exact same paint scheme. I really miss the two-tones where the upper and lower half were one color divided by the accent color down the middle!

I really liked the mid 80's Chevy paint jobs. Too bad the trucks were plagued by electrical problems when they started shopping out parts to be made in Mexico. My brother in law had a '89 Suburban that was a nice vehicle but loads of problems and peeling paint. Nice Blazer but not for that price.

I think there is a disconnect right now between what people think these older trucks should cost and where the market is going. Even a year ago, upper-teens was probably the top end of the market for a nicely preserved original. Now, mid 20's or higher is usually what it will take to nab a pristine, low-mileage original. The GM trucks tend to be running a few grand higher than the Fords, even though it appears as if there are a lot more GM's out there.

I suspect what you are seeing is that the guys who loved these trucks in high school are reaching the age where they can afford to drop $20-$30 grand on a toy if they want it, and these 80's era vehicles are simply riding the upswing!
