so here is how you look at it.

I have to think you saved a bunch of $$$$ on this as compared to buying a new car.

She is happy and the brownie point are there.

i love cars, just have to get in your head that some are simply tools that we use to make money and get thru life and others are toys.

I now have a 8500 mile, 2009 z06 and a 22k mile 2004 lightning. The other vehicle are simply tools I use to make money and get around. Wife says 2 extra cars is fine, 3 is rediculous

I have the same problem. I got my truck as a DD but then I fell in love with it and didn't want to put a ton of miles on it and have it "beat to hell" by everyone else. That's why I bought my classic car.....I mean Cavalier

That's exactly what I have been telling myself all the way up to Dallas this afternoon -- it is a "tool" that was purchased for a specific reason and that's what it is for!

At MINIMUM I figure this car will save me $13,000 over 5 years versus what I would have spent on a new Escape, and it is actually a nicer vehicle than a new Escape would be -- and that figure doesn't even include the added cost of sales tax and insurance that would go along with a brand new vehicle!

So yes -- I am gradually coming to peace with the fact that this vehicle will become the new "family truckster" for our crew and along with that will come some unavoidable wear-and-tear. I just wish the thing had at least one nick or ding in it so I would feel better about what lies ahead......

I get that one nick or ding thing. I love telling people the vette is fricken perfect..not one nick scratch or ding.

i bought my daughter a used crv and it is clean but it has 2 small dings, totally changes my view on it. i still expect her to take care of it but i am not checking it out every day.

my wife got a ding, not her fault and i had a guy come out and remove it, amazing what those guys can do.

Houston is tuff to keep a car cherry, so many rocks flying on the roads, my 2012 has 47k and the front end was peppered. I got it fixed and in a few months i am getting a coating or something. however the ford paint does not impress me on the truck. my GM paint has held up much better to rock chips

Houston is a PITA to drive in. Wifes sister lives in League City and I have a nephew that lives in Friendswood. I usually take Hwy 146 to Kemah and then into League City. I try to avoid going into the downtown area.

Well David, I just found you another car for your collection. And it's only about 30 minutes from my house!

Give me a buzz if you want me to take a look at it for you.

What ever happened to the Taurus Dave? Did it get put into the DD line or has it been in the garage since you got it?

Wow -- that's quite the beast! I passed a guy on a local highway this past summer who had the Lincoln version of that same car -- looked dang sharp in gloss black! Hard to believe they made cars that big in a two-door variant!

The body style reminds me a lot of the late-60's Fury's, which were such cool cars in their two-door versions.....

Nope -- it's the wife's new daily driver replacing her '05 Escape. Such a nice riding car -- took it on it's first real road trip up to Dallas for Thanksgiving. It's sitting at 7000 miles right now and will be going in for its first tire rotation over the weekend -- nine years and the factory tires have never been off the car.....

Look at the bright side, since it's still running, it's got to be worth a fortune. Most of those diesels grenaded a long time ago!
