New RAM's can't tow 7000 lbs?

My friend who's shopping for a truck just asked me about this and I had to check it out for myself. The 2013 RAM status show max towing on a quad cab 1500 is 6,750 lbs??? I had to make sure I didn't accidentally goto the Canadian site and they were talking about kilograms! I like Ram's and can't believe this is their new towing numbers, what gives? The only thing I can think of is that the new standardized towing specs really don't like RIS?

Not Ford related. Not F-150 related.

More appropriate for general discussion forum.

Maybe it's just me, but if I needed to tow 7,000+ lbs, a quad cab 1/2 ton PU would not be my first choice.

I agree, BUT check the towing/hauling section many people buy the smallest truck that will move the load they plan to haul regardless of the safety of innocent bystanders / others on the roadways...

these indivuals guarantee survival of the fittest and jobs for emergency crews thus doing thier small (even though ignorant) part to keep the U.S. economy in shape

Not sure towing capacity with these trucks is anything more than marketing hype. I'll bet 70% of half ton owners never even pull a trailer.

I agree. The rams I see are usually fully loaded commuter trucks. It's smart by Dodge. Oops I mean RAM
