NCSU's Basement Bar Build
 

Finally decided it was time to do something with the basement area... why not turn it into a bar/pub?

First thing I did was paint the walls a light grey color to get rid of the 'builder white' we'd been rocking for almost 6 years.

We knew the carpet had to go, and before I could remove the carpet, we had to get the TV out of the way. It wouldn't fit in the space over the fireplace, so I built a frame for a wall mount.

Now with the TV mounted, I was able to free up a little space. Not much though! :lol:

With the carpet gone we could start laying the laminate flooring. We went with boards that are almost 6½ inches wide, with a little bit of a bevel at the edges to provide some texture to the finished floor.

But before we go any further it's time for a beer break. I mean, how could you have a bar if you don't have beer on tap?

Meet the kegerator.

Once it's in its final place behind the bar, I'll probably add at least 1, maybe 2 more 5 gallon kegs and taps. There's plenty of room if I take over the shelf space on the right.

Ok, back to the floor. Took way longer than I thought it would, but we got it down. Still need to put in the ¼ round, but it's 97% done now.

Next up is building the bar. Wifey will be replacing the furniture, new couch and probably a love seat to replace the old blue sectional.

however I like real wood floors over lamenants....but the wood grain you chose looks excellent....

where did you find that flooring, i love it

I do too, but for the difference in price, I had to go laminate. Plus we wanted wide planks, to get a 6"+ hardwood the choices were a little limited, and again the price had to be taken into consideration.
