Because they are built with tighter tolerances now...That's why.

still runnin strong with 165,000 on the clock been using 10W30 for the last 30,000 or so i have 65psi at a 75MPH cruise on the freeway and 20PSI at a warm idle in drive.

the 94 4.6L 2valve is diff than my 97 4.6: 2valve? i didnt know that strange well i guess i could see that the 94 smoked like a mad house somthing about valve guides?

PS how you been Jbrew you still in MI? or did you move to IN?

I'm good Shifty, thanks for asking. -I was only in Indiana on a two year project for Alliant Energy/ Bp, but that was a while ago. I made it back home (MI),- fall of 2008.

____________

Anyway, you run the recommended 5w so that everything gets lubed, specially in this climate. Your economy may be a little better as well.

5w 20w to be exact.

I'm surprised it's lasted that long. Must be noisy by now. Yea, with the tighter tolerances it's harder to get the oil everywhere. Although, maybe yours aren't so tight anymore.

oh thats good to hear. we still have to line um up some day. *after i get new shakles* still got your 5.4??

yeah i noticed thoe with the 5W20 that my motor on cold start up sounded like a knock untill i put it in gear. now with the 10W30 there is no cold start knock sound.

i noticed just about every trition motor ive ever heard has that cold start knock to it untill they go into gear.

Really, I never heard that. What are you doing to them ? Oh, never mind

Mine has never knocked, I've heard the dry start before when running a Fram filter.
