Towable Fords

Does anyone know if there are any Ford SUV or F150s that can be towed behind a motorhome safely? Manual transfer case? Thanks.

I don't think you can tow at 70 miles an hour in neutral safely.

Sure you can.. transfer cases are only for 4x4's Either way stick it in neutral and pull your heart out. My only concern would be overheating the transmission.. but i doubt that would happen

You might want to read your owners manual. Most autos warn against towing the vehicle for more than 50mph or more than 50 miles. I think it is because there are still internal components moving but the pump is not.

The older manual transfer cases were the way to go but I can't seem to find a vehicle that has one. They all seem to be power switchable which does not work.

Bad advice. If you don't remove the driveshaft, you will damage the transmission. This is stated in the owner's manual.

This is what the 2001 Owners manual says:

On 4x2 vehicles, it is acceptable to tow the vehicle with the front wheels
on the ground (without dollies) and the rear wheels off the ground.
On 4x4 vehicles, it is recommended that your vehicle be towed with a
wheel lift and dollies or flatbed equipment with all the wheels off the
ground.
If you are towing a NASCAR Special Edition F-150 or a Harley-Davidson
F-150 using flatbed equipment, you must place two 4X4 boards at the
end of the ramp to allow for bumper clearance.
If the vehicle is towed by other means or incorrectly, vehicle
damage may occur.
Ford Motor Company provides a towing manual for all authorized tow
truck operators. Have your tow truck operator refer to this manual for
proper hook-up and towing procedures for your vehicle.

Either find a low optioned 4x4 with the manual shift 4x4, or get a 2wd and disconnect the rear driveshaft.

Yeah, if you're looking new, you will only be able to find a manual xsfer case in a XL model (work truck). I've seen a few on the lots in my area.
