I Can't Believe the Stupidity
They either have no clue or think people are so stupid they will buy their smoke. The oil and gas industry is reeling and has been ever since the moritorium was put in place. The company I have been with for the last couple of years saw all the service industry immediatly freeze capital spending. Our coumpany lost 70% of proir year business and experienced a 50% layoff. That is not uncommon with the businesses that serve the drilling industry. We manufacture large equipment units that perform various services on the wells. So, all our suppliers are suffering just as we are. The pump companies, engine companies, hydraulic companies, metal suppliers, ect. That trickles down to office suppliers, restauarnts, motels, etc. What glass house do they live in?

I read that earlier. Complete idiocy. Below is why they think all is good. Morons.
But the report found no large increases in unemployment claims, thanks in part to a big hiring push for cleanup crews and massive spending by BP on the recovery effort. |

Virginia too, and New Mexico.
We've had a refinery here for 54 years, yesterday it shut down. Amoco made money here. BP made money here. Giant made money here. Western lost $50 million here and shutdown our Yorktown refinery, I heard they also shutdown one in NM. For those who complain that there aren't enough refineries in the US and none have been built since the 70's.... Our local refinery was grandfathered (54 yrs) on the hundreds of environmental permits. One year of inactivity and the permits expire and then it will never be a refinery again. Finished product was being shipped in from India cheaper than it could be refined here. Once the rig blew in the gulf, the moritorium kicked in and the chances of VA off shore drilling ended...our fate was sealed. |

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100916/...ill_moratorium [ignorant kool-aid peddler] You have no idea what you're talking about. You're obviously a "big oil" shill, racist, evil, Neo-Con, Islamophobic, Capitalist! Anyone without their head buried in their butt, knows "Trickle Down" economics is merely a myth perpetuated by that stupid Ronnie Raygun! You need to school yourself on Obamanomics 101, and be enlightened like the rest of us! You simply need to be purposed for an unpaid internship for the Green Industry. We may even teach how to build a Prius if you go quietly. Don’t you care about the Polar Bears, children and your carbon footprint? You selfish “Teabagger”!! [/ignorant kool-aid peddler] Figured I just get that out of the way. :smoke: |
Today's liberals and progressives in a nutshell:
- If it goes, tax the heck out of it. - If it still goes, regulate it. - If we eliminate it, and it was bad (in our minds), cheer for its death. |

You know its bad when even the Democrat officials like Mary Landreu are objecting to the propaganda and spin. As for the no clue part, it was pointed out in the article that the regime did not even do an economic analysis before deciding to have a drilling moratorium. Even if they 'knew the answers in advance', taking a few weeks to do a study would have given them some political cover. |
Another item for the 'Are they clueless or do they think we are that stupid' file:
http://www.nypost.com/p/news/busines...ODzN8BXLg568iI For the first time, election workers for the primaries and general elections will now be included in the employment figures. Talk about padding the numbers... |
I work in the Oil and Gas industry too and our Provincial government has been trying to kill the industry in Alberta for years. They raised the government Royalties right before the Recession and drove business out of the province which resulted in mass layoffs. Over 200 in my company alone. The province was shocked when they made less money afterwards. They only just put in Royalty incentives to entice companies to drill again.
The province does very little to stand up for the Oil Sands. Most of what you hear about them is garbage and half truths and government stays silent. It boggles the mind that our own government is killing the very industry that fills their coffers and keeps a huge percentage of this province employed. |
The administration used the report as an opportunity to freeze drilling and had no concept of the economic affect. Still gets me, when I think of all the people that have lost their jobs in the petroleum industry and all the small service businesses that have closed or are just barely keeping their doors open.
