Snow-blowers, what are you using?
I hate to even bring up such an ugly topic but it's gonna be here before we know it, snoooowwwwww! I've been using my quad and a plow for several years but have recently been thinking about purchasing a snow blower. The quad set up is quite a pita to my friends house and their neighbors, or even model homes for work. Maybe I'm getting old or something but I'm looking for a little more simplicity this year. So I saw these snow blowers the other night at Home Depot and started checking them out. I didn't realize that these things were so expensive but they sure do look like they would move some snow. Looking at a 22 or 24" 2 stage 6 speed Ariens or Cub. Anyone have any history with these machines?

I have a Toro Snow Commander, although here we probably don't get as much snow as you (except last year). But even still it does pretty good for a single stage blower. It pretty much handled all of last years snow. I would also look at the Toro's along with the Arien's, which I have heard good things about. Also might look at the John Deere's. If most of your snow is under 6", I would definitely at least think about a single stage.

I dont think that I have that much invested in that set up combined. Check E-Bay if you want a blower for your tractor you can find some pretty good deals. I found that tractor with the 48in deck and 54in 4 way hydraulic blade for 850 and then found the 49 blower for 220 and 175 for the chains and weights.

I looked on E-bay but all of the blowers where for older series JD's. I have a newer LA145. However you are correct in that the whole set up, tractor, blower/plow, you can find for under 1k on there.
