Might as well be one. It gets more federal funding per capita than any state. Besides, I just report it, not make it up.

HI is pretty liberal, but hey they live on a tropical island and lots of them smoke weed so I guess they're pretty happy. :D

Maine is pretty liberal judging by whome they elect to national office.

If states like Texas, Tennessee, Alabama, Montana, Arkansas, Missouri, ect ever get on the most unhappy list... then I would be worried.

I'm not too surprised by MD's ranking. We have DC and Baltimore crime spreading to our suburbs, state taxes are ridiculously high, and the traffic is pretty bad. DC\Baltimore area does offer the higher competitive salaries, at least in my field. I probably wont' retire here, but I'm happy for now and sticking around .

Agree, unfortunately I do not see it ever changing for the better. I also assume through your comment you are in the same field as me, IT.

It's sad to say you are right. Don't get me wrong, for the most part, I love living in MD. It's nice to be able to drive a few hours West to the scenic mountains for some camping, or a few hours East to the beach\ocean. It's mostly everything in between those areas that are so messed up.

And yes, I work in IT.
