Not truly official yet. Still needs to be approved by the U.S. and Chinese governments.

Funny part is GM thought they could get around $500 mil and they reportedly got around $150 mil.

ETA: AM General will keep the military version.

That's unfortunate.

I can see it now. "introducing the all new fuel efficient, hybrid hummer" IMO that is not hummer. Make the H1 again. Those are badass.

You could buy a surplus hummer. Even have one around here that someone bought. I also suspect many to be on the market before too long as they will be getting a replacement for the Hummer as it has shown it needs to be beefed up with armor to the point it has little payload capacity.

For 150 million, I bet some big time business man could have bought them here in the US and done a much better job with Hummer by himself. Not to mention all the contracts he would have with the military...

kingfish51 Oct 9, 2009 04:58 PM

He would have no contracts with the military as the military Hummer is made by AM General, not GM They are a totally different company. AM General is owned by LTV, and the rights to build the civilian Hummer versions were sold to GM. GM owns no part of AM General.

would have been nice to have it built in the good ole USA, we could sure use the jobs....

The Hummer service department spoke Chinese before, this makes it official.

PawPaw Oct 9, 2009 08:37 PM

Only if they kick the Unions out...

Well if this is what GM built, I wonder how much more can the Chinese cheapen it with their C channel design concept.
