Broken laptop LCD screen- fixable?
My dad got this computer for my sister last year. Its a 14.1" Acer Extensa 4620Z. Windows Vista Home Premium, 2GB Ram, Intel Pentium Dual processor. She recently broke the LCD somehow and since its "old" she dosent want it so I took it off her hands for free. With a few minutes of searching I found replacement LCDs for around $75. Is it do-able?
Pic of it as soon as my phone uploads it. |

I own a computer bussiness and it is very fixable! just kinda tedious work, have to take the keyboard out and un hook all the connections. 75 bucks is a good deal but wouldnt spend much more on it Acer is good when they are new but after a few years of use they tend to have more and more problems

If you don't plan on ever carrying it around you might want to consider just buying a nice size LCD flat screen (desktop model). Hooking it up to the laptop and using it.

I have to agree with dd. Just hook up a nice LCD to it and wireless mouse and keyboard. You can even make a carputer easily doing this.

When I was in school our school-issued (included in tuition) laptops were insured by the school. If something happened it would be fixed or replaced for a $50. A buddy of mine managed to break his screen so he turned it in to IT to be fixed. They ended up replacing it with the new laptops that the new students were getting. So I backed mine up and things happened to it. I won't get in to further detail but will say it was barely holding together. Pretty much everything was broke on it. Wouldn't even start. Wouldn't you know it, they fixed everything and gave it back to me. Guess I deserved that. Haha.

Yeah, heres my current setup as of right now:
http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k2...1/DSC03690.jpg http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k2...1/DSC03691.jpg 14" Acer Extensa 4620Z (VGA input) Gateway SX2800 (DVI input) Xbox 360 (HDMI input) all into my 23" widescreen. With a flick of a button I have access to all three. :D But I'm trying to sell some stuff on craingslist so I can buy that replacement screen, I'd like to take it around campus. But this is fun, I love multi-tasking. Like those photos above I uploaded via my Gateway and I have this laptop signed into Yahoo Messenger and my Gateway signed into MSN Messenger and I just send myself the links to post them. Yay! |
