Street trucks...I don't get it?
I am sure I will get lots of flack for this BUT...
I really don't get people that buy trucks whether 2 or 4X4 and slam them, big wheels, flashy mods JUST for the street. Thats like taking a car, lifting it and doing mods for off road. Huh?? What gives? Is it a RAP or gansta thing? |
Its a form of self expression? People use many different types of media to express themselves. Some chooise painting, some choose writing, some music, and some people choose trucks. Whether your style is low, high, off road, or street, it's still a way for people to show off there creativity and skills.
Some people like to stereotype it with rap, gangster, redneck, hick or whatever. Once you learn to look past that superficial crap and look at more as an art form you can learn to appreciate it more. :smoke: |
show me a car with a V8 that can get 20+ MPG on the highway, and still be capable of towing 6,000+ pounds and i will buy it
|
I know it is to each his own but I really don't see a slammed street truck with super low profile tires/wheels towing 6,000 pounds.
|
I don't see a truck with 12" of lift and 40" tires towing much either
|
been there done that, and i bought the Tshirt

I guess I am an old koot. I just like trucks to look like trucks not slammed or lifted.
You are right it is another form of expression. |
Look at it this way, if these people didn't exist, who would you have to make you feel so superior? They do it because they like it. If someone has to explain it to you, then you wouldn't understand anyway.
Edit: Late to the party... Looks like you figured it out. |

now I'm a big fan of trucks and some look good lowered and others look good lifted and I have one of each plus a stock ride height here's my lowered and "big wheeled" truck it can carve a canyon and still tow a trailer https://www.f150online.com/forums/me...nice-truck.jpg *edit* https://www.f150online.com/forums/me...ar-springs.jpg before the rear drop https://www.f150online.com/forums/me...-rear-drop.jpg after the rear shackles https://www.f150online.com/forums/me...ting-still.jpg :rocker: |
I don't like "slammed" trucks that "lay frame", but I do like the slightly lowered, sporty looking trucks. I also don't like the lowered 4WD's and lifted 2WD's. I think reasonably lowered trucks look more "race car-ish". Trucks that have 30 inch wheels with paper thin rubber look ridiculous.

I've asked for a set of drop shackles for mine for fathers day. I simply want to level it., because I like the looks.
I had a 72 that was jacked with 30's, and just kinda got tired of replacing ujoints.:beers: |
Oye. Another broken record thread.

If it looks good to me it looks good, whether its street or lifted. I personally wouldn't lift or lower my truck but does that make the people who do less than me? Of course not. Jeepin explained it best. Its a form of expression. Like I said, I don't knock what others do simply b/c I wouldn't do.
