It looks like it has already rear-ended a Mack truck and the rest is just so plain. The front just does not go with the back.

The article says that the bed has been shortened to a 6'-3" bed to allow for more room inside. There are 4 full size doors instead of 2 back suicide type doors like everyone has now. Kind of like a SuperCrew with a "full" sized bed.

 

They get uglier each year don't they? Guess they will never make a good lookin truck like Ford. Oh well, not everybody can make their trucks as nice lookin as the Ford trucks.

The more I see new designs and concepts the more I think about keeping my truck for years and years. Maybe even pass it down to the Jr.

 

I think auto companies are having one big ugly contest to see who can pump out the most crap. The only ugly Ford I can think of is the Focus so we must be losing! Even the Focus isn't as bad as the Pontiac Aztec, Chevy Avalanche and GMC Terradyne. What the h&ll are they smokin over at GM? How about the replacement for the Jeep Cherokee, the Liberty? Looks like that robots face from the "Iron Giant"! Yeah, I'll stick with Ford thanks. At least their engineers don't appear to be smoking crack while watching cartoons!

 

Looks like Dodge and GM are fighting it out on who can be the uglyest since they can't beat FORD that way they have something to say they are champions at.

What is it with the new grills? Did you see the new caravan? It used to be a heck of a nice mini-van! Now the Dodge Ram!!!!!! I used to like the Ram redesign but now that is just plain fugly!!!!

 

Hey People- credit where credit is due, logic has to dictate a credible response to what the Dodge crew has done for pickups- I don't believe we would've received such a radical design on the 97 F150 if it wasn't for the 94 Ram. My knee-jerk response to the introduction of the SuperDuties was much the same as I read here, but after driving one and seeing the design/engineering improvements- I'm selling my 00 F150 soon as I can pull the $$ together. I suspect that some of the changes we see in this new 02 Ram will evident in the conscienceness of Ford truck designers.

 

The Power Wagon is a hybrid. I was reading it in AutoWeek magazine.

It's a Diesel and electric and produces near Zero emissions.

One for Dodge, I guess.

I must say I was hoping that the new model would be more of a change over their previous design. I mean, all the changes are incremental. The general public won't even notice that anything has changed.

I don't care for the Dodge's looks before or after this redesign, however, it seems that all the car/truck mags out there seem to consistently rate the Dodge as the best looking pickup among the four contenders.

I wonder what the next generation F-150 is going to look like. I think the '97 - '01 looks are awesome -- is Ford going to make it better or screw it up?

since we are having a bash-fest on other makes, here goes....
GM
creates a winner with one of the best full-size, famliy-type race car - the Impala SS, then they quit making it. I refuse to recognize the current Impala.

Puts the LS1 engine in TAs and camaro's, but desigs the body/structure so that it feels like you are sitting in a bathtub when you get in to drive it. (i think this big boost to stang sales since you dont have to crawl in and out of them) (I still like both TAs and stangs, however)

Dodge
great turn around in the 90s (ex new ram, VIPER, etc, etc) but forgot how to make trannys last in concords and sister models
(can't afford a viper, so I will penalize dodge for not giving me one to drive- hahaha)

Ford
not too much to say about them - except that they should make the base level GT's and yes the cobra (not cobra R) with enough power (esp low-end) to completly destroy the ls1 powered f-bodies. (I know f-bodies are slated for the axe, but ford should try to make it the biggest axe it can)
