Really Good Read---Tom Brokaw's "Boom!"
Interesting book about the '60's. He interviews a wide variety of people from Arlo Guthrie and Kris Kristofferson to Colin Powell, Karl Rove, and **** Cheney.
It doesn't seem to be quite as good as The Greatest Generation, but it is a damn good read. Interesting interviews about what took place as well as individuals' observations about the turbulent 1960's. Anybody else read it? Tim C. |
Brokaw is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations like Colin Powell.
If brokaw had his way, you'd be paying "$2.00 to $2.50" more for a gallon of gas via increased gas taxes. I'll pass on brokaw. |

That certainly is your choice, sir, but it still is a fine book about a troubled time---regrdless of who wrote it and what you think of him...let me ask you this, did you read The Greatest Generation?
TSC I believe our greatest generation was the generation that founded this country. They not only put their lives on the line, but their fortunes and famillies. Many of the Revolutionaries came home to find their families murdered and homes burned down by Brits. Not taking anything away from our soldiers, but Brokaw pipes up about "The Greatest Generation" because Roosevelt was president then. And he supports the socialistic 'entitlement' programs he signed. |

No, I've read enough about him in "Foreign Affairs" magazine and have read several other books about WWII.

Honestly, regardless of what you feel about Brokaw, you ought to at least try to read part of the Genearation. I do feel that you will be surprised at its objectivity. Give it a shot. TSC |
